Home is where the heat is, and this week’s hometown dates cranked it up.
The first went to Kelsey A. who brought Joey home to New Orleans. They at least saw butterflies, even if they did not feel them. Her family was sweet and well-adjusted. Both her sister and father asked good questions and seemed to genuinely be open to the idea of her dating Joey. Additionally, Kelsey A’s dad should be the odds on favorite to be the next Golden Bachelor. What a hunk!
With that Joey was off to California to meet Rachel and her family despite the fact they are actually from Hawaii. They had a cookout and to prove his interest in Rachel he was made to eat a pig’s ear. Joey went along with her family’s traditions, however they were less comfortable themselves with the untraditional nature of the show and expressed concern over her having been hurt in the past. Despite these warnings Rachel decided to tell Joey she was falling in love with him which of course he side stepped like the seasoned Bachelor he is.
On to Minnesota, where Joey went to meet Daisy’s family. If this date were a Taylor Swift song it would be Today Was a Fairytale. Last week Daisy told Joey that in order to express that she is falling in love with him she would need to feel confident that her family approved of him. Daisy’s dad encouraged her to shoot her shot and not to be afraid of what might happen. So she did, to Joey’s delight. It remains obvious that Daisy and Joey are at a different and more advanced stage than the other relationships.
Finally, we got to Maria's hometown. Oh Canada. This was fun. The promotion of this week’s episode was meant to make us believe that this hometown would be contentious and crazy. As it turns out, Maria’s dad is a king. Joey asked her father for his blessing if he were to propose to Maria and he offered it gladly. It seemed that Joey’s concerns were eased by the experience. Maria’s father shared this with her and encouraged her to go for it because Joey was a great guy.. Unfortunately Maria was unable to open up to Joey and tell him how she felt.
With the group dates behind us we got our annual airport hanger rose ceremony. Maria took this opportunity to pull Joey aside and tell him that she was falling in love with him. Joey didn’t buy it, and we don’t blame him. It did not seem genuine and ultimately led to Maria not receiving a rose. It was a good run.
Rose Recap
We correctly predicted two out of the three roses given out by Joey (Daisy, Kelsey A.), we did not foresee Rachel to receive a rose over Rachel.

Dear Maria, Count Me In
Consider this my official request that Maria becomes the next Bachelorette. Perhaps there has never been a bigger no brainer. Greece lightning! We can only hope that she would want to, and of course we will watch it either way. But man, this could be one hell of a summer for us Bachelor nation.
