VISION

For Happiness and Sorrows is more than just a personal blog. I created this space to cultivate a diverse community of women who make laughter and authentic connection essential to their daily lives.

I believe: relationships make us who we are / the real you is worth knowing / your uniqueness is your power / healthy community is essential for growth / you are never alone / your story isn't just for you

My greatest hope is that you feel: seen / accepted for who you are / encouraged / called up / challenged to make a difference / grounded / loved / a sense of gratitude / purpose / permission to pursue your personal destiny

Use this space as: a destination for inspiration / a place to laugh / a place to cry / a resource for when you're feeling stuck / a compass for when you're feeling lost / a resting place from comparison / a morning ritual / an online group chat

Grew up on the Internet in rural South Carolina.

From childhood, my windows to the real world were a Seventeen Magazine subscription and an 18" Zenith television that rarely left MTV. UNO tournaments and playing in the woods were things of the past once I discovered MySpace and PerezHilton.com.

I dreamed that college would be my opportunity to break free from my country roots and live the life I saw in magazines. To my surprise, my big break was realizing that The Bible could be more than a Mountain Dew coaster. I gave God's Word the opportunity to teach me and faith began to shape my life. Since then, I've been traveling the world, making friends of all backgrounds and learning valuable lessons along the way.

My life's journey has been tumultuous and curvy. Through it all, I've drawn inspiration from the way Jesus chose to live: immersed in unexpected relationships, connected through his daily activities, motivated by love and acquainted with sorrow.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by! For more tea on me, check out Me-Coded.

ABOUT ME

Erica McClintock

BEHIND THE NAME

My best friends are like red wine. There for me in happiness and sorrow. 🍷

Celebration and heartache. Success and failure. For good days, bad days, and all the days in between. My best friends have taught me so much in the way they live. Lessons in hospitality, honor, and listening. Perseverance, sacrifice, and joy. Living examples of love, integrity, and willingness. Givers of grace. Excavators of clarity. They've championed me and challenged me in ways that have changed me. I dedicate this space to them.

My really great friends are like martinis. 🍸

There for me in happiness and sorrow. Sending memes at the crack of dawn. Kindling our bond through belated voice memos, 5k training, and cackling at losers on dating apps. We always pick up exactly where we left off: spilling too much tea, firing off the same ol' complaints, and sharing fears about getting older. Humor dark and dry as all get-out, they make me belly laugh! My secret-keepers, truth-speakers, and loudest cheerleaders. My insecurities fade in their company. I dedicate this space to them.

My favorite friends are like tequila sodas. 🫧

There for me in happiness and sorrow. Opening up a world of wonder, chatting about everything under the sun. From big issues to small, it's always a party when tequila's involved. My favorite friends interrupt my routine. We split truffle fries at $20 cocktail bars on weeknights. Max out our PTO flying across the world for concerts. Together, we live in the moment. Creating positive memories in the spaces our traumas invaded. I grow because of them. Like lime and salt, they bring out my flavor. Our differences don't divide us. They add value to my life in the matter of minutes. What's for me won't miss me with them around. I dedicate this space to them.
