Here for the right reasons.

Week 4 kicked off the show’s international travel and it began with Lexi and Joey’s one-on-one. They shared the day walking around Malta and confirming their favorite colors. At dinner, Lexi told Joey about her story with endometriosis. She explained that it could potentially prevent her from having children. Joey reassured her that would not scare him off. She received a rose.
The first group took place where Ned Stark was beheaded (this is Bachelor spoiler free content, but not necessarily Game of Thrones spoiler-free content) at Fort Manoel. They were trained to become knights before facing something called the “sausage wheel” which forced them to attempt catching flying meat out of the air…with their mouths. Autumn was victorious and got an extremely brief bonus time with Joey. You can tell that she has a competitive spirit, unfortunately her chances of winning Joey’s heart are at zero. It was Kelsey T that received the group date rose after taking initiative to get time with Joey that night.
Then came our first and likely only two-on-one of the season between Sydney and Maria. They took a boat out to The Blue Grotto with Joey, such beautiful scenery for such an ugly situation. They each were given the chance to make their case to Joey about why the other was so terrible. Sydney was cold and vague. Maria was fiery and pissed, with good reason. Joey finally sided with Maria giving her the rose. This was all kinds of awkward, and completely the right decision. A huge dub for Joey and for all of Bachelor nation.
It seemed that the season-long drama was finally over, but Lea had other plans. Her displeasure with Madina escaping the Sydney-Maria saga unscathed led to confrontation at the cocktail party. Madina played Switzerland, masterfully dodging the heat. Maria responded less well when she caught wind of it. She’s tired. I’m tired. Joey has to be tired. In a Malta-rnate universe Maria gets the Daisy arc, but that’s not the universe this Bachelor season is in. At least not right now.
Sayonara, Sydney
Last week, we left room for Sydney to be more or less cast as the villain and not to simply be a terrible person. After seeing this all play out, we reserve that possibility and assume that perhaps it just wasn’t her best take or read on the situation. She dug in, and it bit her in the end. Sydney might not have been evil, but she was certainly wrong.
Bachelor Tuesday!
Part 2 of Week 4 will air on Tuesday and we’ll be here for our usual Rose Recap and updated Rose Rankings.
Cheers, and thanks for being here for the right reasons.
