Another year, another summer to be... well, hot. 🤷🏾♀️
These are the beauty products that I absolutely swear by (and honestly helped my Bumble likes go through the roof.) We're covering affordable everyday makeup looks, skincare essentials, easy nail solutions, haircare, and must-have fragrances! Queue up your Hot Girl Summer playlist, the summer's ours!
1) e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil: When I started using this lip oil, the amount of compliments I received SKYROCKETED. I have four bottles that I’m actively using rn: one in my purse, one in my other purse, one in my car, and one in my room. I honestly feel lost when I don't have one by my side.
Perks: Juicyyy lips! It offers a little color and plump, but it doesn’t burn at all. My friends LOVE borrowing this one. Perfect gift for summer birthdays!
Use: Daily. For my darker complexion, I prefer the berry shade Jam Session. I also like to layer their neutral shade, Honey Talks, with Patrick Ta’s Major Glow Lip Shine in shade Is She Younger Than Me?
2) Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen: The enemies to lovers romance I never expected. I’ve been betrayed by sunscreens in the past - they either made me ashy or stupid oily. I started my journey again last year and I'll say that once I started really investing in my skincare regime, sunscreen became a non-negotiable. It’s become my secret weapon against early signs of aging and hyperpigmentation. I'll be honest with y'all - I usually buy the dupe from Trader Joe's, however, the better dupe is at Kroger! Unfortunately, I can only grab this one when I'm in Atlanta.
Perks: Anti-aging. Prevents my dark spots from getting darker. It's an oil-free mineral sunscreen, so it doesn't make oily at all. It doubles as a makeup primer for me and I notice an easier, longer-lasting application when I wear foundation.
Use: Daily. I will say, though I work at a medical spa, I am not a licensed esthetician. Everyone should wear sunscreen daily. I prefer this sunscreen for my combination, sensitive, and acne-prone skin.
3) isClinical Cleansing Complex: I realized other cleansers weren't actually cleansing my skin once I started using this one. This is a gel-based cleanser and exfoliant formulated with a combination of salicylic acid, antioxidants, and plant extracts.
Perks: Deeply cleans your pores. Doesn't leave you feeling dry or irritated. Kills acne before it begins and a little goes a long way. Hot girls get their money's worth!
Use: Daily. Also, this is gentle enough following post-procedure treatments like micro-needling, IPL, or laser hair removal.
4) e.l.f Camo Color Corrector: Best $4 I have ever spent. After applying sunscreen, I apply this to my undereyes and dark marks. It's helped my foundation fight back at covering my imperfections.
Perks: Cheap and effective. Shade range allows for women of all backgrounds to use it.
Use: As needed.
5) Hot Tools Curling Iron: The "lazy girl blowout" is my most complimented hairstyle. I grabbed the clips I use to set them at the beauty supply store, but these are similar.
Perks: Feeling good about yourself. I mean, nothing beats feeling like a million bucks, but not spending it, am I right? Thank you, TikTok.
Use: Weekly - once on Sunday night, and on a good week, it'll touch it up everyday.
6) Silicon Mix: Listen, I'm using anything the Brazilians and Dominican girls say to use! If you have curly hair or wear hair extensions and wigs, this deep conditioner is a GAME-CHANGER for maintaining your hair between paychecks. It will take you from matted to mami in two minutes, I STG.
Perks: Detangles and restores dry, damaged hair.
Use: As needed. I would say don't use this when you have something important to do within a few hours. It has a strong fragrance to it.
7) Kiss Press-On Nails: I set an intention at the beginning of the year to save more money. One of the things that has helped me accomplish that goal was taking my nail budget from $75/month to $6/month. Press-ons get a bad rep for looking super fake, but these don't. I am super loyal to Kiss. They give me the opportunity to try different shapes, styles, and lengths without compromising my budget.
Perks: People never believe they're press-ons, haha! They last two weeks and you get two uses out of one box. The secret here is applying the glue to your nail and the fake nail.
Use: Once every two weeks.
8) Signature Fragrance: I go through phases with perfume, but I settled with this one because I love the scent of their leave-in conditioner. It's feminine, fresh, and perfect for daily wear. Other fragrances in my rotation are Anthropologie’s Slow Dance and Chloe's Nomade. When I go out, I wear Jazz Club like everyone else.
Perks: Compliments. Lots and lots of compliments.
Use: Daily. Name one hot girl you know that stank? I'll wait.
9) Tinkle Dermaplane Blades: My secret to glowing skin. It’s the ultimate catch-all treatment. Exfoliates, removes dead skin cells, and peach fuzz. My aesthetician friends are obsessed with these.
Perks: Glowing skin and smoother makeup application. Products absorb better, too!
Use: Once every 2-3 weeks. There is a finesse to doing this without cutting yourself, so you might want to seek a professional first. You'll get the hang of it in no time!
