Feeling like Britney in 2007? Or like Drake versus… everyone in the rap industry? Then, break up with drama and stress, and try one of these self-care activities to help you recharge and make the most of your Saturday:
1) Morning Yoga Session: Start your day with some gentle stretches and mindful breathing. Book a free class near you using ClassPass.
2) Pray or Meditate: Spend 10-15 minutes clearing your mind and setting a positive tone for the day. If you’re looking for guided prayers, I highly recommend Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson.
3) Nature Walk: Take a walk in a nearby park or explore a new trail to reconnect with nature. I make this fun for myself by giving myself little challenges, like finding a four-leaf clover or spotting a bluebird.
4) Digital Detox: What would it look like for your screen time to be at a minimum today? Disconnect from your electronic devices for a few hours and be in the moment.
5) Spa Day at Home: Create a relaxing spa experience with a warm bath and face masks. Invite your significant other in on it! Fun way to con someone else into pouring you a glass of wine.
6) Read: Dive into a good book you've been wanting to read or listen to an audiobook. Magnolia Parks is my go-to at the moment.
7) Journal: Support your local coffee shop, grab a seat, and reflect on your week. Jot down your thoughts, feelings, and goals. If you’re creative and looking for something to help you dive deeper, I highly recommend The Artist’s Way.
8) Cook a Family Recipe: Make mamaw proud and whip up a batch of biscuits, cookies, or a tried and true casserole that you’re obsessed with. Invite some friends over to try it or keep it all to yourself.
9) Garden: Spend some time tending to your plants or start a new garden project. You may find the love of your life in the Lowe’s Garden Section.
10) Paint: Please tell me you’ve seen the trend on TikTok of couples painting each other. It’s so fun and funny. Try your hand at it and tag us on IG!
11) Listen to Music: Play your favorite childhood album or explore new music. Some of my favorite artists are people I know personally: Sierra Cruz, Taylor Von, Kylie Odetta, Sir Ellington, and J Rashod to name a few.
12) Watch a movie or series: New season of Bridgerton, anyone?
13) Visit a Museum or Art Gallery: Feel the vibes. Plus, these usually have free or affordable admission.
14) Write a Letter: Sometimes it makes us feel good to make someone else feel good. Write a letter of encouragement to a friend that you’ve been missing. 2024 is the year of bringing snail mail back.
15) Solve a Puzzle: Shameless plug: my business (Wonder Age) carries the CUTEST lux puzzles (500 or 1000 pieces). Get free shipping with code SELFCARESAT.
16) Clean Up: Sometimes we feel stressed because our environment is creating stress. Save the bed rot for Sunday and get organized. Refresh your home and unwind after chores with this non-toxic lavender room spray that instantly makes your space feel serene and calm.
17) Sweat: Go for a run, take a dance class, or do a home workout. We need the endorphins - for happiness and sorrows!
18) Picnic Outside: Grab Pub Subs (or homemade sandwiches), hit the pool, and enjoy a meal outdoors with your bestie(s).
19) Get a Mani/Pedi: The old tried and true.
20) Buy flowers: Miley Cyrus said it best: I can buy myself flowers. Head to Trader Joe’s and do just that. They’d look so pretty in the kitchen you just cleaned.
Creating time for self-care on Saturdays will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the upcoming week. Pick activities that make you happy, help you chill out, and make self-care a fun, regular part of your routine.
